Broken gimmicks?

It was my first performance for someone other than family with my new gimmick I had gotten for Christmas. I was just performing with my brand new, hand-made expanded s**** quarter 3 days after Christmas, I had the routine down, and all of a sudden the unthinkable happens! I was doing the first routine in Bobo's, and when I was doing a switch with the coin to the s**** and the edge of the s**** diggs into my palm while I was palming it. Guess what, it didn't release right! It took a second or two for it to fall, on account that it was dug into my palm. It fell to the floor, I quickly went down to grab it and it and grab it before it could be seen. It had bent when I placed my hand over it, so I quickly said, "Oops I dropped my quarter.", picked it up and secretly put it in my pocket. I kept my cool, even though I thought I was going to throw up, and finished out the routine with a coin through the hand routine. I had done my job, that is to entertain the spectator, but had broken my gimmick in the process. Any thoughts, stories, and advice are welcome.

thats pretty much what u have 2 do (get rid of gimmick and finish with a different routine that doesnt involve gimmick)

i had an incident like that only the inner part separated from the outer part leaving the outer part of coin in my hand,everyone thought that was part of the trick and i was amazed they didn't realize that was the gimmick.:eek:
