Add-a-number Pad

does anyone know a really good method for an add-a-number pad?

I use the basic one where the cover and first page are folded behind the pad, but i was wondering if anyone knew a less risky method?

In what context? I know a few methods with a swami or boon gimmick but i dont like them.
Are you sure you are thinking of the same thing?
