i been doing restaurant magic for years, and things like that happen from time to time. you learn to read people and you kinda get this sixth sence about when to approach a table.

when i first started out i would walk up to a table and introduce myself, and ask if they wanted to see some magic.

well, my very first night more than half the tables said "no" some of them rather rudely.
these days they all say "yes"

you rarely have time to talk to all the tables, the trick is picking the tables that want to see you.

of course, if your going to do magic in a restaurant....the you need their permission.

i would have thought that would be obvious.
do u work at the restaurant?

yes, i'm on the payroll...i'm the entertainment.
i get paid by the restaurant, plus whatever i make in tips.

oh my bad....but if he works at the restaurant....then he shouldn't try to perform there.

you cant go from diswasher to paid entertainer.

any pro will tell the same. you will never get the respect from the staff you need to be an effective entertainer. plus if your getting paid by the restaurant...it makes pay negotiations difficult.

Many of the attributes of a good restaurant-magic are practical in nature. The following list constitutes the best material for this type of magic before you talk to any manger or owner of the restaurant.

1- Simple and direct

2-inoffensive

3-East to carry

4-Durable or inexpensive

5-instant or resettable

6-Angle proof ( you want have a wall behind you all the time)

7-Workable on any surface or on no surface.

8-Highly visible

That just the beginning, I have not talk about you appearance, press books, business cards and the list go's on.

I hope that help some. Have a good one.D
