its not invisible elastic and i'm pretty sure everyone has at some point made this gimmick before and used it for a risin card effect.

it is just a piece of elastic spread betwen 2 cards

the 2 end cards are then glued to another card each to make them thick cards and this is then palced into the centre of the deck, the selected card is placed in the middle and pushed in so the elastic is stretched and then u just release and the card flies out

but how did he do the first?

Or the one under that glass thing. If the gimmick is what traum said it would shoot out right after releasing pressure so there would be no time to place the glass above. Or am I wrong?

For the first one, he just load a card in the gimmick & do a fan, all he have to do is release pressure and the card fly out.
When the card move under the glass, he use double stick tape to retain it for some time (not really sure, but thats what I remember, I've the dvd at home Ill watch it again soon) :)

btw its a really nice dvd and a simple but powerfull gimmick (I rarely use it but the trick called "Touch" is just awesome to perform (the specators "freely" touch 4 cards : the 4 aces, just as easy as this !))

yeah after watchin the demo u'd think it would b some kind of complex device that shoots the cards out mechanically, but its not i have the dvd and he teaches u how to make ur own gimmick, 4 cards and a piece of elastic,

all the tricks are done with that one gimmick, a card is loaded and held in place, as soon as the pressure is released the card will shoot out

HOw do you do touch sounds great but i have no clue.

traumatised-magic

what do u mean u have no clue, it uses teh gimmick that i explained....the aces are loaded into the gimmick and any 4 cards are selected, u then just push those cards back into the deck and release pressure so that the gimmick pushes the 4 aces out for the switch

"How does he shoot fire"?

The fire thing is completely separate. There are a million ways to do the fire gimmick.

Beginners can definitely use this gimmick.

The gimmick is very easy to make and the video very easy to come by. For $3 at a good craft store you can get a spool of IET. The biggest thing with making the gimmick is patience. After fabricating everything you may want to squish it between some books for a couple hours. I made the mistake of being too excited and mine fell apart quickly.

The video also does include some extras like flourishes and whatnot.

you dont need IET, u just need regular sewing elastic...even a rubber band would probably work

the elastic is not suposed to be invisible, its never seen anyway and it needs to be strong. IET is not very strong and doesnt have much elasticisty to it when under pressure.....it would just snap

Holy crap....that's a real nice effect....

At first, I didn't want to comment on it, since this thread was made last year, but someone recently posted on it :)

So how is the effect done exactly??

traumatised-magic

just read thru the post preformer, its just a gimmick card that is actualy taught in almost every kids magic book...more than liekly labeled as a rising card effect lol

u take 2 playin cards, attach a piece of elastic between them and thats pretty much the gimmick, u then load it with the selected playin card and release pressure to have it shoot out

it seems like a pretty win gimick i like the usage of it anyways. i tried making one with a rubber band. i figured it wouldn't work so i just stapled it together. it shot it out pretty well a few times, but every time after the rubber would slow the card down on the way out. ill keep this one in mind, and next time i have money ill head off too Micheal's and try some elastic thread instead. is it less sticky? also two things, where should i put the stuff? i put it mostly centered in the card and it worked well enough, but maybe you guys would know the best spot.

it goes slightly off centre

Yeah definitely not invisible, I was on my way to work, not too sure why I said that. You can but a spool of the elastic at walmart or anywhere else. They generally have many different gauges to choose from as well. At around $3 you can even get a few different sizes to play around with. You may also want to play around with different adhesives too.

The gimmick is nice because it can be pretty clandestine, you can handle it, spread the cards, even "separate" them openly.

Punch a hole right in the middle of two cards just large enough to fit your elastic through. You then attach another card to the side that has the excess elastic which in effect holds the elastic in place. Do the same thing with the other end of the elastic line and let it dry.

Make one for sure, you can then figure out all kinds of things to do with it.
