top shot mechanics is basically ego grip (deck held by thumb and first finger at top), and then do an ego change, but harder and let the card fly out instead of keeping it to the side, very easy to do.
duck change is not worth it, and stop with the shapeshifter too.. crap color changes :o

trust me those r visual but the specs already no wat u did if they are smart and cunning. Best change is the twirl through the first aka twirl change. Do it right and its fantastic.

if you want, simple, to the point and shocking color changes shown up to now, youre going to want to get your hands on:
daniel madison's "focus" change (taught on mystique)
daniel madison's "colour" (also taught on mystique)
a perfectly smooth "erdnase" change
but very importantly:
the "bertram change" (theres tutorials on youtube)
haha nice post mortician ;) : the duck change is very visual if you practice
have you thought on getting hot shot colour changes, or colour changes by jay noblezada? theyre on sale at penguinmagic.com:)

No I'm not.. It's still obvious how its done IMO.. mildly better than the shapeshifter.. and the twirl change.. that is even worse than the shapeshifter.. even if performed well, its not hard to pick up on the mechanics..
A well performed snap change, erdnase change, and simple changes involving palming, done well are much better than any of the above for spectators, and get much stronger reactions.. would anyone use the shapeshifter in a real life performance? No, because it's BS.
Here's a change which is kinda an erdnase variant, that i use a lot as it is very visual.. takes a lot of effort to get up to scratch and with a good clean up, but it is worth it..
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f9cLA4XAuEk&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/f9cLA4XAuEk&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Edit: I would just like to add, that learning involved sleights like the bertram change and the duck change will take you time, and no, it is not worth it if you are wanting to a solid color change to use in tricks.. (You should work on the ones i said..)
If however you just want to learn them go ahead.. but you will not use them to anyone in anything other than.. check out this color change.. and the duck change does not look magical and will be picked up on by 80% of spectators..

So What? Oz Pearlman does a bertram change? IMO, just as he does it, it is just a color change, and is not really very good as incorporating into a routine as a color change - not worth the effort.
Next you'll be showing me Brad Christian doing a shapeshifter, and saying it as a good move. It is not. Please do not use penguin magic or ellusionist or whatever crappy magic videos you've learnt from to try and back up your point. Read a proper magic book, written by proper magicians.
I was just letting the OP know that IMO learning lots of random color changes is pointless, as only a few of them are actually viable for real life walkaround magic.
I was just trying to stop someone else going down the route of getting all the penguin magic and ellusionist videos, badly learning lots of badly taught sleights, and not actually getting anywhere with regard to good routines.
Can't be bothered to write anything else, just don't think everything Oz Pearlman says is gold, he is really not the authority on magic, hasn't ever done anything impressive.

calm down dude, hes rite, betram has too many angle flaws, requres too much pratice, and is not really worth the effort, ESPECIALLY on the streets and performing for more then 2 people. Erdnase is the best if you can do it properly.

when doing shape shifter if u can do it with the least amount of movement in your fingers it will be better instead use the hand holding the deck to move downwards so that u dont have to move ur fingers much and the thumb should push off

okay, I may be new on the forums, as a member, however i am very familiar with the forum conversation. first off... "snap change"? lol. if ne thing is BS than that is it. adding to that why do you down the shape shifter, if your not 7 and your hands can REACH around the card then it can be done very effectively, considering you can drop the cards on to the deck quickly enough. its easy, visual, not side sensitive and definitly appealing if done correctly... making it perfect for street magic. however, only a NOob would use it in an actual routine. sry for downing ya but it is the truth.
