I downloaded this pdf that explained how the berglas effect was done, and I was some what disapointed. He has to memorize the cards basically, and kind of force them to pick a low number.

Yes, the Berglas effect uses a memdeck. That is a certainty.
However, that PDF is probably not the real deal. That effect is one of the effects I've studied quite a bit. Berglas did it to Richard Kaufman THRICE and there was no way Berglas can force Kaufman to pick a certain number.
If you're aware of Dai Vernon's "Trick That Cannot Be Explained", that's kinda how the Berglas effect flows. It's an open ended effect. Sometimes, he has the deck out in the open. Other times, he pulls out the deck AFTER the card and number is chosen. David Berglas has developed a way to be able to cut to a card in his memdecks (yes, he probably carries more than one) down to the exact card, and nobody but two people in the world knows how the cut is done or the whole mechanics of the effect.

the pdf is actually the real deal, David Britland - the mind and magic of david bergals. And it is about 500 and something pages. The last pages explain how the bergals effect is done, there are many ways of doing it but the trick doesnt fit my style.

As i know the book does not explain in full details the Berglas Effect that was really used by Berglas. The the secret wasn't revealed in that book.

I believe it was, about 4 pages worth of it.

No the book doesn't.
The book describes a way to do it, but not the way David Berglas really does it himself.
It's like this... anybody who buys the book expecting to find the secret to the Berglas effect alone will be sorely disappointed. The book was written such that only a performer with lots of experience and appreciation of the art can read between the lines and construct a way to achieve an effect as close as possible to the real deal as much as possible.
The only known authoritative description of the effect is in a CD interview stored away, never to be opened until probably Berglas and the man who interviewed him are dead.
If you don't believe me, there's a discussion over at the Genii forums about this.

yeah like its been said, there were a lot of people that purchased that book, the retial price was around $500 at the time and everyone was disapointed that the berglas effect was not revealed in it, it was just briefly gone over. u think a trick like that would take up just 4 pages? i think not lol
there may b a way to do the trick written down in the book but its not the true way, only a handful of people know the real way, berglas and his aprentice bein 2 of them
