That means that even if these aliens had harnessed near-lightspeed travel it would take them over 90,000 years to reach us if they were at the edge of our galaxy. If you started at 12 noon and spent 1 minute traveling faster than the speed of light around the earth over and over and over again until you arrive where you began, it will still just be 12:01 the same day. Get what I mean? I understand where you were going with the theory of relativity and all, just saying. But traveling faster than the speed of light in space? I never got why "c" always stands for the constant speed of light? The speed of light is anything but constant. The slowest light has been recorded as traveling is at 32 m.p.h. Now that's pretty cool ;)
