if those are aliens, and they dont come in piece, i am so kicking your ASS! >.>

EDIT: oh and if they are aliens, its pretty clear they are more advanced then us, considering the fact that they couldnt be from our galaxy

They just got some clips and are showing it over and over again. And they didnt like show the whole "space ship". But if it is true.. It's more likely a super advanced military space ship made by the African bushman. He's really cool btw!

BUt i do hope they're aliens. that would be SOOO AWESOME!! I'm so gonna to do an alien if its a girl.. ah, who cares! I'll screw them all!!! xD

Um, okay, good luck with that.

But anywayz, I have actually never really heard of this 14 October 2008 thingy before...
Kinda interesting.
And by the way, is this a popular news channel or something? I just want to know if it is really reliable.
And if there was a metal disc in the sky or whatever and heaps of people saw it, and if it is in China, wouldn't there have to be at least one decent picture out there?

Honestly, I am amazed, surprised, and a bit out of mind. And blindDodo, haven't you ever thought that we aren't the only beings in space? I can't say for sure, but I could believe that this spacecraft is not from earth.

Obviously I think we're not the only beings "in space" as you put it, I am a rational-minded scientifically-thinking atheist, and the chances of us being alone in the universe are minute.
But come the fuck on guys! Do you really think if a massive spaceship hovered over Shanghai, just one obscure "news" video on YouTube would report it? Do you think the presenters of this "show" would speak casually saying "oh look it's an enormous alien spacecraft that looks just like the one in independance day", whilst the only news channel ("EU news", which btw doesnt exist) repeats sections of t he same footage over and over?
What the hell is wrong with you people!? Lol.

If any of you truly believe this then you're making an absolute fool of yourself. (sorry to anyone who truly believes it lol.)

Yea, I have to agree.
If there was a huge spacecraft in Shanghai that lots of people saw, I am pretty sure it would be on my BBC news at 18:00....

But about "aliens" or other beings in the universe being real.....I don't know, I think it is kinda possible, like the universe is huge and you might think somewhere along the lines there might be some sort of other being....
I just hope when we go to war with them, we win.

Yeh exactly.

Well, personally I think there are. Basically the chances of anything existing at all are minimal. Why should there be anything? Why not just have nothing? Wouldn't it be so much simpler? The chances then, that there would not only be something, but that all this something could combine into atomic structures, and in fact whole chunks of matter, whole laws of physics, whole planets, rocks, water is despicably improbable. Then the chances that out of all this shit should come life. Piss off. Life? Wtf; the chances are basically 0. Then that this life would develop into, thinking, conscious intelligent human beings with social structures and though are beyond nothing. Well nearly... It has been estimated that the chance of a universe being created which supports intelligent life are around 8.5x10^2940000000000000 to 1 against. Now thats pretty unlikely.
so you may think that the chance of there being other life in the universe besides us is pretty unlikely too? Wrong. The fact is we live in a universe which does support life. A vast (sometimes referred to as infinite) universe. There is a famous equation designed to work out an estimate for the number of other intelligent civilizations within our galaxy that we may be able to contact (in theory obviously). The Drake equation.
It's pretty damn complicated, and there have been many estimates of the value ranging from 0 to 10000. But the current estimate? The current agreed figure by most astrophysicists of the estimated number of intelligent civilizations in our galaxy beside our own?

Well, when we say aliens, it doesn't have to be from our galaxy.

BlindDodo

Well, when we say aliens, it doesn't have to be from our galaxy.

Actually it kinda does lol. the milky way is 90,000 light-years across. That means that even if these aliens had harnessed near-lightspeed travel it would take them over 90,000 years to reach us if they were at the edge of our galaxy. I mean we're good and all, but I dont think it'd be worth aliens traveling 90,000 years just to float around our skies a bit.
Now you're talking about ones from other galaxies? Welll the nearest other galaxy (called Andromeda) is 2.2 million light years away. 2.2 million light years! That's approx 12,932,975,820,000,000,000 miles. Again, assuming they had managed some form of near-lightspeed travel it would take them 2.2 million years to get here. Now no offense but i dont think we're worth it. 2.2 million year ffs! They couldnt even know we were here; it would take 2.2 million years for any signs of our presence to reach them. That means if they can magically be observing us "now" they are seeing the earth as it was 2.2 million years ago.

And don't say you can go faster than light; you can't. To hideously simplify Einstein's theory of relativity, if you went faster than light you would go back in time. But you can't. So it's fine.

Don't have nightmares ;)

Actually, not too start an argument, but if you went faster then the speed of light, you would go forward in time. I just read a whole article about it in my friends book on advanced science studies. and like I said, I have to hand it to you, you have enough facts to prove yourself right lol.

Not to start an argument either, but if you went faster than the speed of light you would go neither forward, nor backward in time as time is an idea and not a universal presence, time is a man-made idea. If you started at 12 noon and spent 1 minute traveling faster than the speed of light around the earth over and over and over again until you arrive where you began, it will still just be 12:01 the same day. Get what I mean? I understand where you were going with the theory of relativity and all, just saying. But traveling faster than the speed of light in space? We don't know what would happen we only have theories because we can't test it to prove and we don't know exactly what would be out there to interfere with our travels either.

On an end point though. According to the laws of physics, it IS indeed possible to travel through time. However, sadly, it would take all of the energy of a small star to move even just an ant.

No because if you travel faster enough to break the time barrier

exactly. but its impossible to go that fast because the faster you go the more your mass increases. before you can reach the speed of light you would die from the extreme mass.

And you know that you would break the time barrier how? My point was only that there is no definite answer to this as it can not be tested, which is why it remains a theory and not a law. That's all.

Not to continue an argument or anything ;)

Basically that is a nice way of looking at things. To a degree.
Yes time is an idea. As is space, matter and force. They are words used to describe things.
But they are still useful for describing things. I mean that although time is a man-made concept, it does describe something in a very useful way. And you are wrong, you can't "spend 1 minute traveling faster than the speed of light", it just doesnt work like that. Its hard to explain but it doesnt.

Either way we will never break the "time barrier" anyways. there are processes that perform at a faster rate than c/n, (the constant variable for the speed of light outside of a vaccuum) but nothing that carries information can travel at such a rate. So to end. I agree that if there were any aliens arriving on this world they would have to be from our galaxy.

Yeh I agree with your agreeance ;)

I never got why "c" always stands for the constant speed of light? The speed of light is anything but constant. The slowest light has been recorded as traveling is at 32 m.p.h. Now that's pretty cool ;)
