At school yesterday a boy came up to me. He asked me to do a magic trick. I did angle zero to him. Today he came back up to me and asked me to do another. Only this time he had 30+ 12 year olds with him.I did some basic double lift stuff but I found that it was hard to do magic so with so many people around or any way of decreasing crowd sizes?
Have you got any suggestions of tricks that I could do for a larger crowd or any way of decreasing crowd sizes?
Thanks in advance.

Make a circle. You go in the center of the circle. Perform Biddle trick.. OR, if you want to be remebered as god at school. do Factory Sealed with the coin in the cap:)

Thanks. Most of them think I am a god already because of a simple double lift.
lol:)

I meant that I asked them 2 pick a card. They put it back on. I controlled it to the top. Did a double lift. They all thought id done it wrong. Asked them to hold the card and it changed into theirs.

I dont know about 2 card monte because someone wil see me switch the cards around. I might try ultimate three card monte.
Thanks again.BenPmagic

if you do the two card monte right, they shouldn't see the switch

any time i get a large group on the street....i do a multiple selection of about 5 or 6 cards, then finding each one differently...and then finish with the signed card in the mouth....

when that last (signed)card is found, folded in my mouth, they flip out and applaude wildly....

so i got 6 or 7 people involved in one effect.

Dr. Daley's Last Trick, or at least Greg Wilson's take on it works well if you're a bit unsure of 2cm. I agree, nobody should really see the switch, but if you want to build up confidence first, DDLT is "safer" because it's structured completely away from the switch.

if u can get the crowd in front of u for just a minute u could do bad influence by daniel madison...just let them stay in front of u just long enough to get the palm out of the way

thanks for your advice everyone. I decided to go with 2 card monte. No one saw the switch and some random people started shoutin that I was a witch lol. I did a multiple card force using different forces. I asked them 2 shout out the name of their selected card at once. I then showed them a deck(svengali) and told them that the card that they all picked would be the only card in the deck. I showed it normal and changed it 2 their card. It went down very well.BenPmagic

for 2 card monte, do you guys do a top change to change the second card, or a double lift, reversing the top card on the deck?

and to answer to question, some great tricks for a large crowd would be Francis Carlyle's Card to pocket, with the card signed very large and visibly. Lol, even with a simple 2 card transpo, you will fry people with the right presentation. Also trick switch is one of the greatest tricks for crowds. I remember when my friend performed this for me and 15 other people everyone went absolutely wild.

here's ellusionist's description of the effect. (the dvd how to do street magic is crap, this trick is the only good one)
After picking a card and shuffling it into the deck, the performer says he is going to try to find the card but he asks the spectator to keep a strict poker face - not blink - and not give away the card "no matter what".

Performer pulls out three cards and puts them on the table one by one... each time asking the spectator if it IS his card. The third card IS the card - but since the spectator has been instructed NOT to give it away - he cannot say anything. The performer puts it on the table saying he's positive that these three cards are NOT the chosen one. (The spectators begin to get amused - thinking that the performer has blown it).

After playing around to build up the effect, the performer pulls out the SAME chosen card from the DECK. Everyone DIVES for the card on the table - having seen it clearly placed there - but it is a different card!

When people ask you to do a card trick, do this one first. You won't believe how sorry they feel for you - that you are so dumb to blow it so badly. Then you will see them literally FREAK when the card on the table is not the card they thought it was, and they realize there is more to you than they thought. "DO ANOTHER ONE!! PLEASE!!!!

Do whatever you have to do to switch the cards out, but I recommend the top change. Looks soo natural..

I use that trick a lot but instead of producing it from the deck I ask them to name a number between 10 and 20. I count that many cards off of the bottom of the deck and then ask them if their card was on the table. They say yes. I ask them to turn over the card that they thought was theirs. It is not theirs. Then I turn over the card at the selected number. It gets amazing reactions.

Haha! I've never tried baiting with it like that. Will try the next time. Heh. This trick is so old that that text on which this was described in is now in public domain. While the original handling can use some modern touches, it still really works well.

A cousin of this effect is where you appear to the spectators to have made a mistake on all 3 cards, but claim you succeeded on the 3rd card. Make a big show out of getting it right amidst the spectator claims that you didn't. Build it up right until they're aching to turn the "incorrect" card over themselves before you turn it over. They'll start doubting their eyes after that. :)

Personally, I just feel that going through a phase wherein you make claim to make a mistake on all 3 attempts doesn't make sense. I'd rather just play with the rule of threes, I guess.

Why cite ellusionist? They just rip off trick, old or new, rename them and market them as their own...for a large crowd do either emotional intelligence by luke jermay, or into the abyss by Oz...They're both VERY awesome.
