???
Don't the chemicals in flash paper allow only the paper to burn and nothing around it???
So then if you burned tracing paper with something behind it wouldn't the object behind it burn as well?

You can just Google for the reciepe to make your own Flash paper: there are tons of video tutorials out there... it is not THAT hard, If you are in chemicals ;)
But I prefer the stuff that is sold completely ready: you can also use the flash cotton that is inside that (dunno how they are called in english ) table bombs? that things you light up and small toys pop out, like in partypoppers ( but partypoppers have that string stuff )... the table bombs have that ash tray stuff in them you can use to produce Flash-Paper like effects... itīs like flash cotton and works quite good.
oh, and here is a pic of a little, palmable fireball shooter ( shoots about 5 m/15 ft ) that I build myself:
you need the following things:
small metal tube,
pulling fireworks,
flash paper
Pinch a SMALL hole in back of tube ( small so that the string gets thru but not the red part of the cracker, that has to be fixed by the tubes bottom to have the pull-effect), then put string of pully firework thru hat hole ( needs some practise...or put another small string thru and tie firecracker string to it... cut off the second string on cracker, its useless...
wrap some flash paper around the cracker... put both inside the tube. Roll a little Ball of Flash paper ( this will be the flying "Fireball" that is shot out of the tube). Put Ball inside tube.

( the picture should make every thing clear, the cigarette is to show the devices actual size and that it is easy palmable )
Works fine for me and pops loud and Ball ( about 5-7cm diameter) flies great... but (as always with fire ) BE CAREFUL ! do not shoot on persons or animals !

depends on how good you were at chemical courses in school, and if you grew up with chemical sets for kids... It is not as dangerous as making your own nitroglycerine ;) but as I said: I also prefer the already produced Flash paper from a magical Dealer... If you have one... I was searching for 3 Years, when I started magic and didnīt find any supplier for flash paper...nowadays with the internet and those tons of Magic resellers itīs easy... but in the good old days, we had to produce our stuff ourselves :) and it worked, and nobody got killed or injured... lol: before you handle chemicals: PRACTISE, PRACTISE,PRACTISE :D

you do know that 90 percent of the people here are under the age of 18 and that this is bad advice to be giving a bunch of kids.
they cant even buy the chemicals legally.

Iīm from Germany, not the U.S. as far as I know: donīt they have to be 21 to legally buy the chemicals ? and: Okay: if they are too young to buy the chemicals, they are also too young to buy and use flash paper: but they COULD ask their chemistry teacher to make flash paper as a scholar project ( we did that here in 8th grade, when we were about 15 oder 16 ), so I see no problem ( even if they came on the idea to google for flashpaper DIY, they wouldnīt be able to get the chemicals... ) so I donīt see any problem in that advice... as you said right, there are 90 percent of kids here, but I donīt see a problem for the rest 10% to use my advice if they have the same problem ( e.g. getting flash paper, as i already told sometimes isnīt that easy, depending on where you live )
Even flush powder CAN be dangerous if you swallow it, but I see no problem in advising people to use that stuff... and, as you should know: laws are different in certain countries depending chemicals and handling with fireworks... I see this forum as an international forum and try to give tipps to everybody out there that maybe has problems getting certain things in their area... ;)
Well, I didnīt even post a reciepe for flash paper, which I could have done ;)
