I performed fraud to a friend of mine, a huge skeptic, and slight haggler ( I thought this trick would transform him into a believer). I've never had the guts to do the bill switch until just today, but it went by absolutely unnoticed. The guy was amazed and studied the dollar bill for half an hour. Then using youtube, he figured out the tricks name, and using google, found a tutorial on LMT. Bizzarely, he was too stupid to understand the tutorial (which actually does a decent job explaining the secret), however I'm pissed off. Fraud in my opinion is the strongest magic effect I do, period, but the secret is right under everyone's nose. What are you guys' opinions on exposure? What should I do, if anything?

Exposure isnt that bad if your teaching a friend Interested in magic.
But if its one bad ass son of a bich trying to expose your trick while your performing.
You have every right to
Make that guy/girl disappear.
fucking hell, exposure on youtube are just fucked up.. it shouldnt be allowed.. go to revver or metacafe ffs.. Youtube is too well known to people..

by googling fraud magic trick (or something like that) you end up finding a revver tutorial. Its amaizing, I got a pirated link of fraud, and now it turns out any shmuck can find the secret with 15 minutes on youtube. I'm really pissed off.

From Wikipedia: "Exposure in magic refers to the practice of making magical methods (the "secrets" of how magic tricks are performed) available to those who are not magicians."
It's bad. Really bad. Annoyingly so. However, there's really nothing you can do to fight it directly. The good thing about it is that oft en only the more popular effects are exposed. So, what I do is I avoid popular effects unless I can modify the handling so at the very least, it'd be harder to search for.
For example, I sometimes do "This That and the Other". But I changed the words and the patter into something completely different. I don't know how to do that with Fraud though.

yeah its incredibly annoying. I honestly think we should do a petition, to youtube asking them to remove all of the magic exposure. Not XCM displays or anything., but revelations of tricks such as fraud as it 'ruins the art itself' i think they would understand and agree to a certain extent. Im just throwing this idea out there, not saying we have to, its just an idea

Youtube won't do it. There's no legal issue about it.
Now isn't this ironic... people benefiting from exposure videos complaining about them :D

Yep. The youtube exposure videos end up watering everything down for the rest of us magicians. When someone can figure out what you did by looking on youtube, you lose the chance to create the wonder for them ever again. It can never be solved though, unless no one ever released magic to the community, or people decided to be honest people who respected the magician's code. Those two things will not happen so we are screwed. I wish the latter could happen, but people would rather know the secret than do the right thing sometimes. I do find it interesting that many people who are upset about Youtube exposure, learned some of their tricks from that very exposure.

Youtube is the worst exposure site ever!
Most laymen dont even know of sites like this.
So ... dont tell people the name of your trick.
I dont support youtube exposure...
only exposure from other sites lmao.

I agree Sonny, The worst thing a Magician can do is expose the name of the trick.
If I said, "Hi, I'm Matt Sconce and I will be performing Power Word: Fall" that would be lame because then the people would go type the name 'Power Word: Fall" into youtube and watch some jerk reveal it. Sonny is right. Never reveal the name of the trick you do for people. Then, they will not know what to search for. -Matt Sconce

Hi guys if you see any magic expose that the trick is selling for money u can report to youtube or theory11 or penguin magic ect they will delete the video after a few day i try that before send a pm to user youtube and they will delete the videos.
Really? Even if it's not exactly copyright infringement? Under what grounds?

I completely agree with you! people are always asking, "well what do you call that trick?" It's so annoying. and I'm also against exposure on youtube. I will bet you that every kid 13 and under on this site look up tricks on youtube as soon as you soon as they see how many people on this forum like it.
