With Wayne Houchins "Thread" have anyone else had extreme pain when performing? As said in the dvd use 100% cotton thread, which I use but the pain is unbarible. I have scratch my eye a couple times with it also, I soak the thread up with the Visine as Wayne says in the dvd also. Want to see if anyone is having the same problems, and also is there a differnce between 100% cotton thread, and 100% cotton tatting thread? Two names, should be two differnt entirley correct? What have you guys experciened?

I dnt find it too bad, Yes it may hurt but u gotta be careful wen doing it. If waynes done it since 2000, And hes ok Im sure its safe.

And for u say uve prob done it since.... The release, I think it just needs practice in placing and timing.

okay yeah it hurts like a b***h. i used the 100% cotton thread and the visine and everything and it irritates my eye and i cant even get the whole thread in my eye. i had to make the thread shorter than he uses and it barely fits and makes my eye hurt really bad.

The Geek method...may cause infections of the eye....don't chance it....and Visine is NOT a disinfectant....and your thread itself (even with "clean hands") IS NOT sterilized.

Have you heard the joke about the one eyed magician :)

Exactly.....The "pain" you feel is NOT a good thing.

Yes, a doctor magician was very wary of the geek method and recommended highly against it.

Your Eye has to get used to it... For me it works fine, but I think that is because I´ve been doing a variation of it for years now...

If you have pain, try different thicknesses of thread and different manufacturers... But normally that pain should disappear after afew days when you practise over and over...
It´s like getting your first contact lenses: your Eyes will hurt and feel uncomfortable until they got used to it... then everything should be fine :)

For thread: If you have a problem with the method, and just want the freaky geek effect, try something else ( this is the one I mentioned before when I said I´m doing a variation of this over Years ), insert an unboiled grain of rice ( cleaned and disinfected before ) where you put the Thread in Wayne´s Trick...

now show your spec a bowl/plate/spoon with some Rice ( boiled or unboiled does nt really matter, the thing coming out your eye is hard enough for audience not to check closer ) and tell that you´re going to do a cewl effect:
swallow one grain of rice... do your acting... then rub your Eye/pull down eyelid and show that it has traveled through your tear channel just into your eye :)

I think this is easier that thread and has less danger, basically its the same thing ( okay: you do not have this pull thru effect, but that does not matter I think: for the audience the fact something is in your EYE is shockiing and freaking enough, so you don´t really have to have that pulling thru addition )

for some reason it really doesn't hurt me when I do it, idk maybe i'm putting it somewhere different but it really hasn't hurt me yet.

Where do you place your thread? I place it right where Wayne shows on the DVD, did you try it somewhere else and it worked and felt better?

Asians have a hard time because the "pocket" is really small and doesn't hide it all the way (no racist). I trying to learn the sleight of hand version.

You just have to keep doing it, eventually your eye will adapt to it and you wont feel anything it's like just starting to wear contacts, they feel strange at first, but after a while you don't feel them.

I have the same problem through, I'am not asian but I have small Eye pockets I guess because when ever I do put the thread in, theres a huge bump in my eye, seems as if I was stung by a bee or such. Did anyone find a better place in your eye to place the thread? I cant stand the sleight method through looks to fake for me.

pain is the bodies way of tellin u not to do what ever it is ur doin. eg stickin a ball of thread under ur eyelid. i've scratched my eye ball before (not doin this trick but just takin out my contact lenses) and it became painful to just blink for the next 2 weeks, i had to have special disinfectant eye drops every few hours to make sure it didnt get infected and its incredibly painful. i seriosuly advise against doin this but i'm sure wayne houchin is a respectable person to be trusting with your eyesight so do at ur own risk, i for one would like both eyes in tact so wont be performing this effect any time soon
