Ok so what are your favourite walk around tricks?
I'm talking suave, sophisticated, clever, stylish effects.
Personally I like my own ACR (ending with wallet) and Derren Brown's floating ring.
What about you?

my favorite for walk around would have to be...
copper, silver, brass
i have used lots of different effect over the years, but that one has been part of my walk around performances from the beginning....it's the one i always use.

not sure exactly how easily reset either of those effects are...but, a book test really doesn't fall into the walk around catagory...you have to work out of your pockets.
i'm not sure exactly what dodo meant by "walkaround" but to me it means....magic that i may do at a trade show or cocktail party, where there are just endless people to play with..... in that situation, i usually only carry a deck of cards and CSB, a shell and a flipper, and maybe my pen thru bill....
basicly i'm going to do the same 3 tricks, 25 or 30 times over the course of a few hours....thats walkaround magic. everything has to be instantly reset, because i'm going to do it all again in about 2 minutes.
now i do carry a couple other killer effect that i may do once or twice, if someone shows an intrest in hireing me for another event. but 99 people out of 100 will see the exact same 4 minute show.
i know you guys are still young and most of you are still in school, so what i am saying doesn't mean much to most of you, but that 's the way it works when you do magic for a living....
the same thing applies to street magic....you guys say "street magic", and you mean walking up to strangers on the street and doing a couple tricks for them....but there are no professional street magicians that perform that way....and the reason is simple....there is no money in it....there is no one to pay you. i know some of you have visions of walking up to a group of stranges and doing a couple tricks, and then, they give you money....well, that kind of thing is extremly rare! and when and if, it does happen, you only get a couple bucks...
now when i do street magic, i start by going to the city or county court house and getting a street vending permit....basicly it's a license to beg (and in many places you can get a one day permit). that way, there wont be any hassels later.
then i find a location, a corner or some other suitable location, where there is a good foot traffic flow, but i'm not in the way of it. then i set up a small table, and a tip jar...but i don't go to the audience, they come to me.
over the next five or six hours i'll do close-up for just a few people and other times i'll do larger shows where there may be 25 or 30 people, either way the tip jar makes about 150 to 200 dollars a day. not bad for six hours work.
now i know most of you aren't in magic to make money...but if you are considering magic as a way of life and as a career....
then you need to realize that there is very little money in the brad christian, ellusionst, david blaine, way of performing street magic. it may be cool to walk the streets freaking people out, but you can't pay the bills doing it.
now don't get me wrong, i love magic more than just about anything in the world...but if i'm going to spend as much time, thinking about and working on my magic as i want....then it has to pay the bills.
for me, magic is like sex:
at first i did it for love, then for a few close friends, and then for money.
i really hate to prostitute my art like that, but.... i got to eat.

That was a nice monologue!
Yeh I completely agree with everything you said.
And yes that is what I meant by walkaround; stuff that doesn't need resetting, can be adapted to fit the audiences reactions, doesnt necessarily need a table, and can be done time and time again.
You're right; there are four ways to make good money with magic:
1) A big stage show. You need a very good act and usually very expensive props. This isnt very common in my part of the world, so you have to be good to do this.
2) Street performance. Like you said, basically magical busking.
3) Table hopping. Bars, restaurants etc.
4) Walkaround. Stuff like wedding receptions and corporate events.
In my opinion, street magician is not a career.

Thanks for the post magick. If people bothered to read that article about street magic you posted before, this would be really clear to them.
Anwyay, regarding your question, Richard Sander's Tagged is not walkaround effect as it has issues with angles and reset which would be a problem in an open and difficult to control environment.

your right....these days most of my performing is either done in the restaurant and bar scene, or doing walk around at a private party, trade show, whatever....
i haven't done any real busking in a little more than a year....

ACR
Reveal with a Duck Change or Shapeshifter
5 Speed
Deck Switch then Chance Zero or ID
(If I do Chance Zero then it'll be me ending with it so I dont shuffle, making the reset easy.)
Also ill just place the piles in their hands.

stigmata is not a walkaround magic trick.
i disagree, i think stigmata is a great walkaround trick, and goin by what u said about what a walkaround trick is defined as it meets all criteria, all u need is a few buisiness cards if ur doin the word reveal or a deck of cards, altho it is not instantly reset is more like a big finisher if u really want to impress, i love performin it on my walk aorund sets but i will only do it to a select few people as u need time for ur arm to go back to normal

my point exactly...as i said earlier i do have other tricks that i use during walkaroud that require some time to reset....but those arent part of the set.
they are for those special people who seem really interested in my work and are likely to hire me in the future.
for me, a true walkaround magic trick, well it cant be part of the set, if i cant do it in every set...(12 or 15 times an hour)
