alright in 2 months i have a gig performing for 7ish year olds all day in 15 minute intervals (different kids each time). so i can do the same 15 minute show over and over. my question, the reason i have come to you guys, is because i would like to know what tricks i should do.. i wont be on stage per say, but i will be up front of the class. i plan on taking many volunteers and have some ideas as far as i will be doing some sponge ball routines etc. maybe some geek magic. but i don't really know where else to go... i was requested to do no card tricks.. so where do i go from there.. (preferablly visually astonishing tricks).. any ideas would be great.. thanks.. :D

I did a kid show about 2 weeks ago. One of the tricks i did was prophet/extreme burn. The kids really liked the visual change of the bills. If for some reason you don't have prophet I will be posting a tutorial tonight or tomorrow for everyone.

There are so many..... I really think kids love the mouth coils....Espiecally the ones that change colors contantly....Try Rjs linking rings... Search this on youtube "rj linking rings" should be first one..... He has kids and adults there.. he is very funny and the kids loved him...hippity hopity rabbit is a nice effect for kids to.... Also do airborn be like hold on a sec i am really thirsty then look at watch when pouring be like ok lets start the show..... Everyone laughs then be like, what?

Invisible thread u can't go wrong kids love any thing that hovers magicaly, money, rings get creative!...Also u can do the crayon trick....if you dont know what im talking about get back to me and i will be happy to explain.Flash paper is another cool efect, nothing to dangerous simple coin vanishes work just fine. One more you might like and i tried this one out on my niece the other day and her reaction was priceless....You can buy a FriXion pen at wallmart, basically its ink that disapears from heat, have the kids write what ever they want put a lighter to the paper and watch the magic happen.I hope this helps you out...all the tricks i wrote are afordable and easy to find...Good luck on your show if u have any questions feel free to ask!

thanks a lot.. i've been playing with the thought of using loops and invisible elastic. however i think its flourescent lighting.. however i have the option of having a spotlight with the flourescents off. but i think the spotlight would be wierd without me wearing a suit or something. i will be wearing simple casual short sleeve clothing

don't do anything with money....at least not any kind of bill change....7 year olds don't understand the value of money, so the effect is really lost on them.
you have to stay away from money for the same reason your not doing card tricks.....the kids just won't get it.
you have to do magic with things that are from their world....
multipling sponge balls is great...
if it were my i'd do....
a sponge ball routine....or sponge bunnies if you have a set.
a rope routine, like professors nightmare or loose ends....or both.
torn and restored napkin, or maybe do it as a sucker trick.
i also do a great routine with crayons......it's the same as my cigarette routine....just different props.
and i'd do my animated sphere (a zombie ball variation) but it takes a lot of practice to make it look like its floating, and not just a ball on a stick.
.................
you could also do color changing hanks
just try to make things bright and colorful...
edit: don't use invisible thread under floresent light!!!!!!!! it will glow!!!!!!!!!!!

You dont need loops if u buy the invisible thread in strands u can tape the tread behind your ears and go from there i would recomend taping a palying card which is called the hover card and whatch the kids go crazy!!

yea i know if i decide to use invisible thread i'll make them change the lighting. not a big deal in this venue. also i agree with you Magick- i think money tricks would be a bit silly concidering kids don't yet undertand money and its value. kids seem to love the sponge balls. now is the "zombie floating ball" anything like "lite flight"? which is better? i really appreciate your help

the diference is the way that you hands can move....
the second one is the traditional method.....a ball on the end of a stick.
and all your movements are transfered to the ball and the hand that holds the stick is locked at its distance from the ball.
in tommy wonders version.... you can move your hands and the ball stays still, because tommmy added a hinge at the contact point...and it's also much cleaner because the stick colapses into the ball, which lets you bring both hands close to the ball, that also means that there is no gimmick to hide.
notice how at the end dirk just jerks the cloth away.....you cant do that with a traditional zombie.
mine also has tommys and dirks autograph on the inside.
