you have every right to keep it up. It is your freedom of speech and expression. Unless you used some footage from the dvd. Also, if you used his name in the title, take out his name.

Actually you have every right to have the tutorial up if you don't use material from the dvd or if you don't use his name. But i still think you should take it down because think of it. What if you came up with a magic tricks and you started selling it and then you found out that someone had revealed it for free?

So think about it, if It's really right to have it up

Lol, I first thought you had the actual video tutorial up. If the video is yours and made by you, they can't do a thing. It is nothing the law can do. It is not illegal in any ways. They can't sue you. If they continue to email you and send you crap, just block them.

What you've done is just morally wrong but NOT illegal.

yeah that is true though that a tutorial home made of the trick isnt illegal whatsoever even Wayne Houchin mentioned it in one of his blogs, that they can't do anything..

I am not a lawyer, nor do I know copyright laws and how they effect magic, but this is a tip on a law website that talks just about copyright infringement posted on YouTube.

Tips & Warnings

* It's important to understand that unless you are the creator of the content, you have no inherent right to post videos on YouTube.

* Access YouTube's Copyright Tips directly by typing 'Copyright Tips' into the Search box on the YouTube Help home page or by typing the URL 'http://www.youtube.com/t/howto_copyright' into your browser.

* You must get permission from the copyright holder if you are plan to upload content that you do not hold the copyright to.

* If you don't follow copyright laws while using YouTube, you could be sued by the copyright holder for money damages.

If its legal or not, it is just wrong to do.

It is legal... Thats like he if went and sang a whole album and had it on youtube they cant sue me because i dont have the musics permission...
Ask him for proof, if he fails to get you some then take it to court for fraud...

Yet you make them.

But he got a point here; you don't want retards you like to call "friends" come on youtube and look up your trick and reveal it for eveyrone at school. You should put it on Metacafe, Revver, Veoh, Break or any other video sharing site. They're not that popular so it'll be a bit harder for the,. but then again, you got google -.-
