David Blaine's television special "Vertigo" got me into magic. Then I found Ellusionist and was overwhelmed with the kinds of effects that they had. I know they suck, but I was younger and really didn't know much about magic then. But I really couldn't afford any of their stuff, so I basically learned everything I could from every book in my local library. By then I was getting paid for doing things like mowing lawns and stuff. So I could afford some of the better effects.

nothing "got me into magic"....i have always been a magician.
in my heart and mind, it's all i ever wanted to be.

i got my first real magic set when i was five........as the professor used to say, "i wasted the first 4 years of my life".

hard to believe it's been almost 4 decades....

This dude did a trick at school with paper balls (it was really just a false pass) and I learned it. I just started actually working in magic a week or two after that.

I wasted the first 18 years of my life before "getting into magic".

To answer your question specifically, a friend of my girlfriend at the time performed a rising rubber band effect where the one band traveled up the other one. I was obsessed with finding out how he did it. Went to a magic shop about 45 minutes away and the rest it history. Walked out of there with Elastrix and BoBo's Modern Coin Magic.

I fell pretty old with all of these posts saying "David Blaine", or "This YouTube Video".

I got into magic, becuase our teacher said that their are people with powers that can move objects with their mind and stuff like that,so I started to search about moving objects with the power of mind, then I got into telekinisis, then I started to meditat and shit lol, then I realized that telekinisis is not real,so I tried to find ways to accomplish pk effects using trickery, and then I started learning spoon bending tricks, then I got to coin effects then card effects then flourishing.Thats what got me into magic
