this is really old. there is a slight gimmick. the top card basically has a semi circle cut out of the bottom half. this goes on top and on the back is a piece of double sided tape.
u have any card selected and u place it on top....ontop of the gimmick card, the cut out obvisously is not seen.
u then control the now double card to the top and push it off, form the back it looks like a genuine card, form the front u would notice there is a bit missing so u just cover it with ur hand wich is no big deal. u then punch a hole in the card right wear the cut out is. meaning the hole only goes thru the selection but the spectators think it goes thru a different card
u place the tag thru the hole and place the card into the deck as u do this slightly unstick the cards.
allow the spectator to hold the tag and u can mix the cards or do what ever u like with them, the spectator can then pull on the tag and out comes their selected card
simple

I saw this a few years ago and came up with my own handling. I never bought the original since my handling worked. But, if the handling that Traum explains is accurate, it looks like I came up with pretty much the same handling as Chastain did.
The only difference between my handling and his is the use of a semi-circle. I just used a large circle punched out at one end and a slit cut from the top of the circle to the nearest edge of the card. The illusion of a single card from the back is pretty good, but suffers from the same weakness as the original handling from the front.
Have fun!

yeah to be honest that is one of the many ways i have seen it in a tutorial....i think all together i have seen about 3-4 different ways. in all honesty it doesnt matter how u do it the effect is always goin to look the same to the spectator, the only problem with ur way is u would need to line up the hole accuratly each time, where as the way i described u can pretty much just punch the whole in any place within the cutout with no worries :)

I don't use the half circle either, I use the hole punch to make the gimmick hole. I also do nto use double stick tape no does Mark Mason ... d/s tape would make the effect almost impossible. I use Avery removeable glue sticks ... Mark Mason uses some sort of spray on substance. Also .... the effect in methos is not simple ... only in execution. :) :)
Glad yall like my trick.

in all honesty i dont use double stick tape either i use 3M repostional photo mount spray
hmmm i assume u mean u punch a hole then cut from the hole to the edge of the card, i would have thought that be slightly more fiddly to get the hole punched right every time, the semi circle seems a bit easier lol
either way its a good trick i personally dont use it but the trick its self is pretty good

No it is actually easy if you notice, most card designs are semetrical. :) X marks the spot
