What type of forum are you going to create and what is going to make it stand out from other forums?

LMT doesnt exactly stand out, but because of its name it instantly comes up in the first page of google when searchin for leanring magic tricks....because of this it has a fairly large member list.

ur forum is goin to stand out to basically compete with neo and LMT and the whole host of other forums that are already out there.

it literally takes years to get to the stage LMT and neo are at now

i for one wouldnt leave either of those sites unless ur's is goin to be somethin special, i have LMT for the community...and i go to neo for everythin else i need

I'd make a site where magicians come and share their OWN tricks and ONLY their own tricks! Not for sale but for free.. so people can come and maybe get inspired or use their tricks etc..

thats a great idea i would join, its also something diffent which makes the diffrence. a really good free forum maker is phpbb, i have my own site made with it. here a link http://www.freeforums.org/

Only problem is you are not going to get anything good on that site. You might get some submissions but no one who comes up with anything good is going to give it away for free, we market that shit.

good point, but the thing is i want to create a community where magicians share their own created effects with each other. Or variations of other effects, it isn't going to be a 1-way-street where one guy contributes everything and the others just copy. And i doubt that they'd market it even if it was good unless people on the forum suggest so, because their own opinion may not be good enough. But if ppl on the forum say that its worth marketing, then they would probably submit it to E or whatever.

Well I created a forum for the city i live in, for the magicians who live around there, i also had a idea page, where they could talk about ideas and i even posted challenges to come up with new methods and thing, only problem is they would come up with a good method and not want to share it. Its going to happen, i really really doubt you are going to get a good community of people who are contributing good ideas.

Heck there are people who don't even want to share the secrets to tricks they buy even though they didn't create it and belong to file sharing networks, because the secret is just too good to give out for free. But give it a try man, good luck.

You dont need mods when you first start your forums, wait until you have then need then promote dedicated users, not people who want to me mods and might not ever be on your site.

Seriously, I got a whole bunch of lame ideas and some good enough ideas.. Variation of tricks, different methods for them etc.. and about 90% that E gets everyday is rejected.. cause it sucks big time..

I have no clue what you are trying to say, either that you will submit bad ideas to the site or that good ideas are turned down by E.

P.S. Who would submit their good idea to Ellusionist? That site sucks.

and my point was that quite a lot would be submitted to his site. People always got a variation of a trick or a complete new method for it. and people always got some small details they like to add to the trick.. get me?
