How did you get into magic?

Hello,

I was wondering how you got into magic. I got into it when a magic shop came to town.I really got serious about six months ago with cards. just before I got into magic My family bought me a gibson les paul. I still try to practice guitar. So give me your stories.

i got my first prop as a little joke, (sponge balls) i turned out being very very good at it. so i explored the world of magic. and i just began to find things that will pretty breath taking, so i took some time to grow into magic and learn more and more tricks and sleightys from that time on.

I played around with card for ever, but seriouly got into one day when i went to a magic shop and they told me about a max maven lecture, i remember him from worlds greatest magic and he was the only magician i could remember on there. I went to the lecture and meet other magicians and began haning out at both local magic shops every day for the next two years, learning from some very famous magicians who invited me to private sessions

i have been in magic ever since.

im just playing, i like vanishes, but i believe animations r better cuz they last longer, vanishes r like a 2 second act.

When I was 14 ,my friend show me a card tricks ,at that time I know its a trick deck but now I wondering its strriper deck ,I even invented a card tricks for myself ,its easy ,just glimpse but its fool everyone,I get inside magic last year by visit DB tricks website .

And I have always been into magic. From the very first time I saw an illusionist on TV, I have always wanted to do those tricks, but I didnt know where to go and where to learn them so I kind of just forgot it. Then one day i went to metacafe and I saw a trick there where he taught you sleights and stuff like that. and he advertised this site. And I've been a member since then.

I believe I came here when there was only 3 videos up. No forums, just the home page. After a week or two, I joined the forums. I've had over 12 different accounts banned..lol.. so im well known here:)


anyway, Youtube and metacafe got me hooked in magic. But now, youtube magic is just crap. Good for n00bs though but they should know better than learning form amateurs..lol.. I realised that after half year or so.. then i began pirating:D

what he said, i was 8. at 12 i saw i history special on sideswows... saw the sword swallowers, fire eaters... and i thought to my self no fuking way that was real, that people could do such things. but i was mesmerised by it and wanted to learn the tricks behind it. then i realized it was real, they really swallowed sword, they really ate fire. I wanted to do it too. spent years of my life learning, teaching my body to do it.

I've been doing magic too. sideshow and magic go hand and hand to me

when I was about 6 or 7 i got one of those kid magician sets with the gimmicked hat and different trick decks, but I had no idea how to use any of it. Then I saw a video where a guy taught about 6 effects with deck of cards, and I got really good with those and moved on from there. Now I work mostly with cards and I'm trying to get better with flourishing

Is it just me, or has anyone else heard sayings like this so many times?
I think Magick even said it once.
