Reminiscing with some friends about Blackpool got me to think about my favourite performance.
For me, this was Rick Merrill performing his FISM winning sharpie act just feet away. I realised that many of you may not be familiar with this routine, so I managed to track down this video:

The jokes don't work in French, and the translation messes up his rythm but it's still worth a watch.
His act at Blackpool was even more honed than this, and ended with dozens of sharpies pouring out of his sleeves before he produced two fans of pens. Awesome to watch. I love his slightly awkward persona as well.
It makes you think; we spend hundreds of pounds on magic props and this man wins FISM with just a coin and a sharpie. An amazing performer; and infinitely better live.

He is a true master of the art. He seems so bumbling and incompetent but then he performs miracles.
Like Lenart Green...

That was awesome.
I have never really been into coin magic, but that was pretty cool.
I agree, the jokes didn't seem to work. But I found them funny :)

To be honest though, in my opinion, from a laymen's point of view, I would of thought this would of been a bit boring and repetitive, maybe it's because he was on a stage, if this was more close-up-ish it would of been somewhat cooler, but I seem to be wrong.
I was mesmerised from just acknowledging the amount of skill needed for the routine, but I think other's would be different, I enjoyed it though.
I think I have seen a video of this guy before, but thanks for sharing this.
