is it just me, or does the effectiveness of roughing fluid lessen pretty fast?
my invisible and my deep 3 decks feel so loose and cards slide off so easily...

it does wear off quickly....
you need to use roughing spray to touch it up...most good magic companies carry it.
.................................................. ..................................
roughing spray is "clear flat lacquer ", you can get it almost anywhere that sells spray paint....
what is sold in magic shops as roughing spray is actually " testors dullcote" it is sold anywhere that sells model cars, trains, etc...

you just lightly spray it on.

you would never have to do it that often....i used my nudist deck on the street daily and still only had to touch up a few cards every couple weeks...

oh, cuz for my deep 3, i only used it like in 7 performances (not counting practicing which would prob total up to like 3 hours), it didnt feel like i used so much, but yet the cards sometimes slide off even with pressure, im afraid of flashing the cards like this cuz cards on top of the 2 cards when i spread r cut on the sides, which makes it a tiny bit easier to see the cards underneath... i guess ill jsut buy the fluid and not use the deck so often then

well I personally dont like the invisible deck that much, so Ive bought two and they never get used. Prolly cause I can't do a deck switch without looking guilty as sin. I made the mistake when i first got into magic of buying a black tiger invisible deck, I know Jay Sankey isnt good for much, but I have to agree that "normal looking" cards have a better effect when doing magic or mentalism, as soon as I did it with the black tiger people always knew summin was up, kinda ruined me on the effect

LOL yes... so true... using a gimmicked deck looking like that will definetly lead to suspicion. especially since ure doing invisible, which looks nearly impossible unless the deck is rigged.

3-5 uses? That's crazy! You don't happen to be in a hot, humid place or where direct sunlight hits the cards, do you? Sweaty pockets and direct sunlight really wrecks havoc on the substance.
And oh, princehildago, that's why Invisible Decks and custom decks don't mix :D

You don't have to switch decks.. after few tricks you can show that 'you placed card in this deck face down before the show'

Some are recommending to get a Flat finish. Actually the best one to get is either the dullcote or Krylon number 1311.
MAKE SURE IT IS A) CLEAR and B) MATTE!
Matte will work a lot better. All you need is one coat of the stuff on each card and that will suffice. Put more than one coat on it and the cards will slide rather easily apart.
I recommend being in a well ventalated area with your cards on either newspaper or cardboard. Spray on the side and at an even speed, sweep across the cards ONCE.
It's not that fun performing a cards across or invisible deck effect and watching your cards slide apart.
A little goes a long way!

you kinda contradict yoursef there.....you say flat is not as good as matte.....but also say dulcote is best.
well dulcote IS "clear flat lacquer" it's in small print just under the word dulcote....
my 30 years in magic says that clear flat lacquer is the way to go.....
I sooo want to buy that fluid thing. Not sure what it is called in norwegian though and i bet it'll cost me like 50 dollars -.-
