I think that he uses loops or another elastic thread. One end is wrapped around his fingers on the deck then he stretches it out with his other hand finger then simply lets it bounce back

true its a loop stretched around his wrist and taken by his other hand thumb so you can lay a card on it when he wants it to drop he just let the loop go from his thumb and at the same time he moves his hands down so the loop wont take the card with it when it shoots back :P
