I have a problem

I have been doing card tricks alot in my school and this new kid started doing them to. He's not good at all but he does them all the time. And then when I go to do a trick for someone they either think I'm trying to copy the other kid or they already know how its done because they watched him do a crappy performance of it. I like the kid, but this whole magic thing is getting on my nerves. How do I get rid of him? And what is a trick I can do that he could never repeat?

P.S. He has alot of money, so he just keeps buying tricks and cards and other magic props that I can't afford.

all tricks require a bit of dedication as to learning and practice (and money >.>), so it doesnt matter if he repeats ur tricks, as long as u perform it better, theres no need to worry because ur audience will find u better. and it doesnt matter if u do something simple like a 2 card monte, but if u spice it up with ur own style, no one can copy that.

and theres no such trick that only a kid like U will be able to do and yet others wont. theres always gonna be a way to learn it and/or eventually find out how its done. just find tricks that fit u, he cant possibly kno how to do all the tricks u enjoy doing

I've been doing card magic before I started high school and I'm graduating next year. It's almost 5 years. I can do magic, It doesn't matter my age.

really ur screwed like i started a thread about a copycat before he not only did a bad job but bought the tricks i had sucess with people suck and you cant get rid of that like im one of the few who can do the zap hypnosis and this kid trys and fails and all that does is ruin the rep for hypnosis there isnt anything you can do but to walk up to him and say LOOK(name) seroulsley FUCK OFF! like dont copy my tricks and LEARN what you are doing before you preform!

Meh. Learn how to do a Pass well, or some of the harder stuff like palming, faro-dependent tricks, and watch him fail.

Learn a memorized stack and watch him cry.

After all, you seem confident in your skill.

speaking of which, what r some nice faro dependent tricks? i remember seeing one but i cant remember the name but the performance was basically 1 card was chosen, shuffled, and then incomplete faro shuffled. then he did a faro shuffle fan (i think its called like a blossom fan or whatever) and he asks if the spect sees their card, the spec says no, and then the magician takes his hand and rubs it through ther top section of the fan and the entire uppet portion of the fan dissappears and only the selected card remainds sticking out of the fan. o.o

I'm not a big fan of faro tricks, so the only ones I know are the 3 in Card College Vol 3. "Acrobatic Aces", "The Two Detectives" and "Numerology"

You could get a marked deck, and read the whole pack of cards out loud.....then hand the cards to him and tell him to do it...he won't be able to...lol....

I meant that you can do that effect without using a marked deck. However, it would be a bit difficult to convince him, though, I think it could work:)

instead of buying new stuff heres a thought why dont you invent your own stuff rather than other people then when he does tricks u can say to him oh yeh i bet u payed good money for that and then he cant go and buy the tricks u do can he

all the people telling him hes screwed how is he just cos of all the crappy youtube magicians people like david blaine arnt screwed cos even tho alot of ther tricks are revealed out there his performance makes them good and he also doesnt sell all his stuff they just get figured out by clever people

you shouldnt really compete if hes really that bad you should have a word with him tell him that you dont mind him doing magic but he should practice first

just get an electric shock pen, or get some rattle snake eggs google for it and shock this guy infront of the others. LOL!! always think about a good performance (try this trick so often you can at home) and a god character, to get your owen style of doing magic! and only do a trick just once!!!!! :cool:
