pretty much most of the people u see criss angel perform tricks with are stooges so thats not really a surprise to me. lol

yeah, every thing i've thought of involves a gimmicked botttle as well, idon't know how criss does it cus he obviously sleeves the phone, but anyone know how to cut glass without making it crack, or spiderweb out? i know there's a way, i just can't remember how...:confused:

There is a plastic bottle version, but he didnt use that.
The thing about Criss is that he uses more stooges than any magician I have ever seen. but he did the switch pretty quickly. and then used a gimmick bottle. which he destroyed to get the phone out.

even so i've seen the trick advertised as an e-book on e-bay. i think there's more than one method. i've had ideas from paper cutouts of phones, to screw off bottoms but nothing's quite fitting the bill. there's a guy on youtube who claims he knows it and had a video up for a while but had to take it down for some reason. the plastic water bottle version "behold the scarabus" i think, don't quote me on this is done with a thumb tip with a small razer blade, so you borrow a bottle slice it open with your "invisible knife" aka thumbtip with sharp thingand slam their phone thru the slit, then cut the bottle open with a normal knifeand take it out. i think it's kinda gay, but i guess it works.:rolleyes:

Facts:

1. He definitley sleeves the phone just before he "slams" it into the side.

2. The bottle pretty much has to be gimmicked in some way.

Everyone seems to think that the bottle's gimmick is a hole in the side, but if that were true then he wouldn't need to sleeve it, right?

If you look closely at his ending position you'll notice that the bottom of the bottle lines up roughly with his sleeve. My theory is that the BOTTOM of the bottle is gimmicked with some sort of trap-door that lets the phone through, then closes behind it.

I believe that the centripital force of his arm's swing (and maybe a little upward movement as well) would be enough to shoot the phone out of his sleeve and through the bottom of the bottle. For what it's worth you'll also notice that the bottom of the bottle is never touched after the trick (maybe even before...hard to tell)

Anywho, that's my two cents on the matter. Any thoughts?

i had somethin goin along those lines a while ago but i had a different approch than you and ditched it. i like your approach... by god i have it. i think i've got it. ok first i have to know how to cut glass... is there some kind of tool that lets you do that?
this is how i think he did it.

1. handed out real bottle for inspection.

2. switched for gimicked bottle which was a bottle with the bottom cut out and brown cellophane wrap over it. so if someone glanced it it wouldn't stand out too much.

3. sleeves phone. in to a device in sleeve. as he pretnds to slam it in to the side of the bottle, a device, like a black widow type thing extends with the phone on top of a real bottom that is iinserted in, thru the cling wrap, no screwes or anything nessesary, just stuck in like a cork, so now there's a real phone in a real bottle with a fake bottom. can't hand out for inspection cus someone may shake it to hard and dislodge bottom so has stooge call phone to give him a reason to breakit out, distroying evedince.:D :D :D

i bought the gimmick from penguin magic n all it is is a thumbtip with a razor on it..make ur own plzzz lol i hate this trick

sorry to break it to you but a razor blade cant cut glass

if any of u has access to a tile cutter they can do the job. it took me a few goes to get it right but if u put the bottle in the cutter and rotate the bottle around the blade should cut thru the glass, do that a few times and eventually the glass should be weak enough to just break off with a little tap. then all u gotta figure out is how to hinge the bottom piece so the phone will go inside. lol

i personally would have gone with a large hole in the side thats covered by the label. but then since most of criss angels audience are stooges i'd even go as far to say the hole wasnt even covered by the label just left as a big hole that he covers with his hand from the camera. lol a hole deffinatly sounds the most plausable and easiest way to acomplish the effect...everyone seems to be thinkin its criss angel so its must be some difficult gimmick bottle. just m,y thoughts on it all

from the video i've (just) seen he deffinatly switches the bottle out, a classic switch in magic too one of the audience members behind him is a stooge and as criss hands him the bottle to look at he gives back a different bottle and his hand doesnt go anywhere near the bottom of the bottle as the phone goes inside. so my thinkins of this are the switched bottle does have a large hole in it, prob the size just smaller than the label, then when he apparently sleeves the phone i think what he is doin is gettin a hidden piece that looks like the label in position so that when he slams the phone in the label covers the hole up....plus when he is hitting that bottle on the table to break it he isnt exactly usin much force yet it shatters quite easily and one way that would happen is if the bottle had been weakened by havein a hold in it
