Good afternoon David,

I am a regular on your forum and want to get your point of view on this discussion we've been having. We want this forum to last and don't want
it to shut down so me and others have had ideas of how to make it a healthy place.

First we would like to stop piracy from this site. Such as illegal downloading and uploading. Illegal Links on your site can be costly to your site and people on your site. First of all you don't want to set this site as an example of a warez site or a piracy site you want to have it be as a place where people can put there own tutorials of how to magic tricks. We think that posting illegal links to downloads should be banned from this forum. We would rather have there be healthy exposure such as homemade tutorials which in a sence is better then a pirated dvd/trick.

This is not only coming from me but from others we don't believe in breaking the law and we want this site to be up forever. We don't want a company shutting this site down because to some of us this is our home on the internet to discuss magic and help others on perfecting there tricks and creating tricks. So the main point i want to get across is pirating should be banned from this site but it should be if you want to know how to do a trick ask someone to make a home made tutorial instead of illegally downloading/uploading them to the internet. Its wrong and lots of people who pirate things know its bad.

I hope you listen to this and others, if you have other arguments on why there should be no more piracy then you make speak if you think there should be then think about what i am saying

uhh i hope your joking but yes downloading and uploading copyrighted materials is illegal and you can be penalized but making your own tutorials isn't and that what this site should be about making your own tutorials

Yes piracy is illegal. You see that warning at the beginning of most movies? If you copy it and illegally distrubute (in this case, uploading the copyrighted video) you can be finded 1/4 million dollars and some jailtime.

I will assure you this will get to DJC. I do recall him not looking on the General forum that much.

I respet your opinion, and actually think it is a good idea. You don't need to learn the trick from the actual DVD...can't we learn from homemade tutorials...that is learning the secret in a legal way. It doesn't make a difference to me.

no its dumb, alot of stupid kids make tutorials suck at it and cant explain it at all. i want 2 learn it from the people that i can actually understand, and earning your own money for a dvd, i get 10 dollars 4 mowing the lawn and i like 2 learn verities of tricks, adding up all the money for some dvd's do u Know how much money that is. dont go making a nother excuse 2 me about it being bad, yes in a way but its like buying a dvd and watching it with yer friend, yer doing the same thing just over the internet. actaully your quite wrong you just are lazy and don't know where to look for good tutorials, infact i've found many tutorials made by people on this site that are very good i can list a couple off the back but first off DJC does make good tutorials also david heidman and traumatised magic also makes good ones so if your saying there are only stupid kids making them then your wrong because i've seen tutorials made by these people who couldn't have been explain much better by a pro also watching a dvd with your friend doesn't have 1 out of 100 effect that pirating does pirating exposes it to thousands of people and if you should your friend thats only one person

ok, first of all....try to actually type at least one coherent sentence so people can understand you.

Second, how do you know that all of us are brain damaged morons who can't explain a trick. I'm sure if you were to make a tutorial people would be going off about how crappy how tutorial was. Face it, no one will every tech it as good as the creator. True, but it would be better to watch a tutorial that came a close second than an origional illegal tutorial.

If you met me in person and I tought you a trick would you call me a stupid brain damaged idiot for not being Wayne Houchin and teaching you stigmata...don't think so.

Haven't you seen Traumatized Magic's tutorials? If you don;t think they are good then you must be David Copperfield or something. TM's tutorials are great!

I will tell you this, I have been saving up money this whole summer just for a concert I wasn't even able to go to, my dad said I had to work for the money, so I did. Right now I have about $75 still saving up, I plan on using next Ozziefest, or the next time Rammstein comes to America. Now you must think I am crazy because I am not spending it on magic and strippers in cakes.

Not exactly. Seriously, I care less about most of the new tricks that come out. I havn't even heard of or seen most of the tricks you guys talk about on a regular basis. We are talking about stopping the pirating of videos, which hopefully you know is illegal and that is all we want to stop.

and if u really are so adament about gettin the actuall dvd then go and buy it as simple as that, the way ur talkin isnt so much piracy its on the verge of theft, ur basically sayin u cant afford to buy it and to some degree dont want to buy it but u jut have to have it.....i'd say that was very much on the verge of theft but as ur gettin the vids online its just piracy. oh well just as bad. and for all these so called videos u want of tricks no one else has. how exactly do u expect to find the actual tutorial videos on here if no one else has heard of them. the point i'm tryin to make is if u want an actual video of a trick then buy it if u just want to learn the secret then ask for it, if one of our members has the actual video i'm sure they can then make a homemade video to show u how its done.

There is healthy exposure and unhealthy exposure. This thread is about improving the site by promoting the healthy exposure and getting rid of unhealthy exposure like piracy.

I am not saying this is going to be easy but if we all persevere than it can and will be stopped. David Engel and Devilzdj4 if you see a pirated link than delete it, ban people that continue to pirate, and close forums that are just request for someone to pirate a video so it will never happen. Mods you are the main fighters, but everyone can help. Doing things like contacting mods if you see a pirated link, try to convince people to stop pirating, join the resistance, and signing the petition!
