Please Help!

okay, so last year i used to be the kid at school how did the magic tricks. now a new kid came and it is like no one even knows i do magic. he gets all the attention with magic and i want to top him off. like today at lunch, at least ten people were asking to show them a magic trick. i really need a non-gimmicked trick to help build up my rep.(he started doing magic because of me)

I reccomend Stigmata for something such as that. I don't know if you have done it before, and I don't know how old the people you are entertaining are, but seriously- the high school crowd loves it. Its what got my reputation built back up after Kaos...that was abysmal...

errr i hate that, really preforming to groups is all about presentation, if your presentation is better than his but your hiandling isn't as good the tricks will have a much better effect, i would recomend scotch and soda even though its a gimmick its examinable at the end don't do cards in school too hard stigmata,saw,coin vanishes would work maybe an inpromtu coin routine

I know exactly how you feel, im in high school and actually started doing in school magic last year, and alot of people loved it and as usual the skeptics were all over how they thought they knew what i was doing (dontcha hate that) but a week ago one of my old friendsand audience members brought a deck and did super beginner magic tricks like the whole finger prints trick and stuff and know despite the fact that i had a great reputation as a magician with stuff like saw and now i dont exist

I just wouldn't try to compete with him, if people see that you are, they might think you are trying too hard to beat him or something.

he has done the worst tricks and has copied my tricks and used them to impress people.and tommarow i am doing sam the bellhop.and it is not that i am trying to compete with him.he just shows off about stuff that i have done. i want someone to remember my tricks instead of forgetting who i am. that is how i lost my rep over the summer.he has done the baducci levitation, ambitious card(copy) and a disappearing coin trick

some tips ok first dont make it a big deal so he dont think hes winning.

second find people who you dont know and do magic to them sso you have a new chanse to start to build a new reputation.

yo have to do only 3 tricks per days for the same person or persons (remenber less is more )

them when you get like 51 people that want to see your magic.this is the time to buy a killer efect.

Honestly, the most powerful trick I have ever done is Stigmata. I am telling you, if you can present it well, you have a strong trick in your arsenal. Don't trace your arm by turning around, do it some other way. For instance, if you are in lunch, just do it under the table, or when you have them write it down, say something like: "Ok, now everybody watch her write it and make sure she writes what you saw so that there is no cheating" and just do it then.

Like any trick, its all about presentation and misdirection. I usually make the gripping part seem very painful, as if it is burning me.

I'd actually say team up with the person, and see what you both can come up with. Friendship, loyalty, and audience all come from that.

Otherwise, do Stigmata, something through window, or levitation.

Or possibly D'lites.
