I find that mentalism is one of the strongest forms of magic. Let me hear your favorite effects/least favorite and why.

Well if you know what a swami gimmick is, it's uses are as much as your imagination. You can have someone think of a word and then turn around the notecard you have been holding the whole time and show exactly what they were thinking of; you can use an envelope with a hole cut in to have a message like "you will think of " and then when they tell you what they were thinking of, use the swami to fill in the spot through the hole in the envelope and open it to reveal your prediction. You can use it in so many ways.

And in response to Heyitsthemagicguy, one of my favorite mentalism effects is just doing a simple drawing duplication or using the acidus novus peek to "read someone's mind". I acutally used the added up numbers principle, the one that is like really old (it's also in 13 steps) on stage as a prediction effect, where I had three people write three random three digit numbers, had another add them up, and inside the box that was on stage the entire time was, rolled up, a prediciton that accurately matched the total; it just goes to show that sometimes simplicity is best. Touching on hoy is also really, really good, and I have been using Lift by derren brown a lot.
