Default Performing on Stage

Hi-
I was wondering what you thought about your first time performing on stage? What are some tips you have? Also, have any good books for performing?

Thanks
Josh

efore you go on get warmed up
make sure you got all your patter down
make sure you are pumped up and not very nervous and shakey
NEVER use a trick you havnt practiced
if you need a volunteer ALWAYS pick a lady
make sure the people in the back can see
if you happen to drop your cards make sure you have a back up deck in your pocket
always save the best for last and have a good opener
rabbits=good reactions
doves=great reactions
if you plan on doing a crazy awesome levitation then check your angles before you go onstage
wipe your hands for sweat after youve done a trick and your hands are sweaty
if the name CRIIS ANGEL appears in your magic set then you're fucked
dont do anything thats been revealed on magics biggest secrets finally revealed
always wear deoderant
metamophosis=YES
mirror vanish=NOOOOOO!!!

thats all i got for you hope it helps =]

Me and my friend Motas were in a school talent show.
List of tricks that we did:
1. Silk Vanish
2. Bisection (0 Reaction... People just don't understand it.
3. Gutbuster (The killer one, it was perfect... Even after 9 months people still asking for the secret)
4. Flash Rose "Hermes" (A pretty good ender) After the rose appearing just throw the roses to the judges and they will be charmed ;DDD

i had a talent show a few years ago and it was my first public appearance as a magician. I was nervous before i went on stage. Once i got on stage and saw the audience i got a bit more calm. I also knew my tricks very well so i knew that wouldn't go wrong (hopefully). I was just worried about my patter and movements. I took it slow and took occasional pauses which helped a lot. It was a great succes. hopefully this will help

I know this sounds way wierd but I always ask a friend to watch me preform a trick and point out the angles I should be mindful of. (hopefully a close friend who won't reveal your secrets; one of my friends happens to do magic as well so I normally ask him) I make sure I know my patter by this exercise I do. What this exercise is is that I will wright part of my patter on post it notes and put it in a glass or something. Mix 'em up and pick one. I then say out loud what comes after that. Other things probably every magician does is just do your best, act casual, and most of all have fun.

More nuggets of wisdom I 4got to add is always brush your teeth before you preform( the listerine pocket breath spray for backup is always nice) smell good but not to odorous, make sure your hair is nice and neat, clothes are washed and ironed, deodorant, try to make sure you "go" before you preform, have a good breakfast, and NEVER insult your audience!
