Question The Incredible Floating Pen???

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone here know how this trick could be done? Here is a link. http://www.magic.org/store/product_i...oducts_id=1194

300$ for a floating pen, the method/gimmick should be something genius, not a simple floating effect with invisible thread..... It says that he can float the pen on any surface, walk away and even pass a solid hoop over the pen... look the picture, its awsome!! Here is another image I found :

Thanks!

Yeah...I was thinking magnets also...but in the picture you see a little wooden board the pen is floating on top of...do you have to bring that with you everywhere you want to do the trick?? If so, the magnets are probably in the wood board...

That would be stupid if you had to bring that board with you....

I remember this when it first came out price is ridiculisly high for a magnet and pen. yes it does use a magnet and a gimmicked pen but you can also float needles and ball bearings.

Unless somehow you could disgise the magnetic board to make it look like a tablet or something along those lines, magnets are going to be the first thing on the spectators minds. Just looking at the picture screams a magnet of some kind.

well.... maybe the booklet is gimmicked (magnetic) and the pen also but how the trick would work? From what I heard, the pen is placed on the booklet and start levitating slowly then stop in mid air.... with magnet it would push the pen (identic pole direction of magnet) but now letting it float? I'm a bit confused lol..

I think it's mechanical. That would explain the cost and the fact that it floats upwards by itself. Anyways, the pen(magnet) would have to be spinning, or else the magnet would just flip it(the pen) over to the opposite pole. It could use something like the levitron.

ya thats what I think.... without spinning the pen, I don't see how it can levitate by magnetism without getting flipped...

im not sure if the above link actually works or not. maybe some one can try it.

the below links definitely works. The base has a giant magnet in it.
